Howdy, and welcome to the first One To Watch of 2023! This week, we’re featuring singer/songwriter Robby Johnson. According to his bio, Johnson was born in a small town in Quebec, Canada, and grew up in a French-speaking household. But from an early age, he was fascinated by everything American and taught himself to speak English with an American accent. He also had a passion for singing and dabbled in songwriting while working various jobs to support himself and his family. Then, in 2012, his friends and family bought him some recording studio time as a gift, and he reluctantly recorded a song he had written. The musicians in the session knew talent when they heard it, and put him in touch with some folks in Nashville. The rest is history. Johnson has recorded numerous songs since then, which you can sample on his website.
