Hello, and welcome to another Hodag Country Festival Flashback! As we count down to the 2023 Hodag Country Festival in Rhinelander, let’s look back at the artists who performed at past festivals.

This week, we go back to the 2007 festival, where Montgomery Gentry would make their third of five appearances, having appeared in 2003 and 2004. By then, the duo of Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry had established themselves as bonafide hit-makers, with sixteen top-forty tunes under their belts. Their fourth studio album, Some People Change, had been released in October 0f 2006, and the title track, Some People Change, and follow-up single Lucky Man had been released. The third single from the album, What Do Ya Think About That was released shortly after their performance in July.

Al Higgins had a chance to chat with Troy Gentry before their performance in 2007.

Montgomery Gentry would return to the Hodag in 2011 and 2016.

In October 2017, Gentry would be involved in a helicopter crash in Medford New Jersey, and died of his injuries in a hospital at the age of 50.
