Hello, and welcome to another Hodag Country Festival Flashback! As we count down to the 2023 Hodag Country Festival in Rhinelander, let’s look back at the artists who performed at past festivals.
Toby Keith has appeared at the Hodag Country Festival three times. His first time on stage was in 1996, a little over five years after his first hit tune from 1993, Should’ve Been A Cowboy. He came back in 1998. It took him twenty years to return to the Hodag in 2018. So, Keith had a wide swath of material from which to choose for his show on Saturday, July 14. He also had the album, The Bus Songs to promote.
Keith had promised WHDG morning man Mike Michalak a phone interview prior to his appearance, but it never happened. So, to make up for it, Keith invited Michalak, along with Hodag Country afternoon announcer Al Higgins to join him on his tour bus an hour or so before Keith’s performance.
