Random thoughts for the week…get ready for some cooler weather the second half of the month. We’ve been roasting for August and forecasters are saying we could be up to 8-degrees below normal the next couple weeks. We’ll see.
Speaking of weather, it didn’t dampen the spirits at the Minocqua Dragon Boat Festival Saturday when the severe storms rolled in. Even though Duff and I had to bail, no pun intended, from our emcee duties because of all the rain and lightning, the paddlers returned by afternoon and the efforts paid off, raising over $130,000 for tick-borne research through the Howard Young Foundation. Kudos to everyone involved, especially Erin and Gami, our point people on the grounds for another job well done. This was the ninth year for the popular event.
The Hodag Farmer’s Market really hasn’t caught a break yet, either with only three of them so far rain and/or storm free. But the people still come out to support those vendors who tough it out.
Short and sweet this time out…’til the next one. MM
