It all began at a 250 watt AM radio station in Antigo, Wisconsin…
I’ve wanted to be in the radio business since I was a youngun’. My mother says I used to go in the bathroom and talk to myself with a hair brush-microphone when I was little. I got a tape recorder for Christmas when I was in grade school and listened to myself babble. After high school, I majored in Radio & TV Broadcasting at UW-Platteville, and after graduation in 1980 got a job in Antigo at WATK and an FM station that had just increased its power to 100,000 watts, WRLO.
Over the last forty-plus years, I’ve done a lot of different stuff in radio, but the part I love most is being on-air. I spent a number of years doing the Shopping Show on WRLO, along with a morning shift back in the nineties. Later, I moved to WHDG and have been on-air here since 2002. Although I was NOT a country music fan when I got the job, I’ve grown to love the tunes, the many artists I’ve met (thanks to the Hodag Country Festival), and the fans and listeners.
I really appreciate your support over the many years on-air. Thanks for tuning in!
