There are at least 32,815,785 reported cases in 50 states + the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam. This is more than in any other country.
U.S. deaths: at least 583,690. California has the greatest number of reported deaths in the U.S., with 62,472.
The greatest number of reported COVID-19 cases in the U.S. is in California, with 3,763,281 confirmed cases out of a total state population of 39.51 million. This ranks third in the world after England, which has 3,880,345 cases, and Maharashtra, India, which leads the world with 5,226,710 reported cases. Texas is second in the U.S., with 2,922,680 confirmed cases out of a total state population of 29 million.
Latest reported COVID-19 vaccination numbers in the United States
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports a total of 337,089,765 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been distributed in the U.S. Of those, 264,680,844 doses have been administered, with 153,986,312 people receiving at least one dose and 117,647,439 people fully vaccinated, representing 46.4% and 35.4% of the total U.S. population, respectively. The Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines each require two doses to be effective. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine requires a single dose to be effective.
CVS and Walgreens open vaccine appointments for 12 to 15 year olds
CVS and Walgreens are now opening up appointments for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to adolescents ages 12 to 15.
CVS announced to ABC News that starting Thursday, appointments are available for scheduling at more than 5,600 pharmacy locations nationwide. They specify that parental or legal guardian consent is required for these shots, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
Walgreens has opened appointments starting Thursday as well. “This is another notable milestone that will help end the pandemic,” Walgreens said in a statement. “With Pfizer vaccines available in most of our stores, and our experience immunizing children and adolescents, Walgreens is ready to vaccinate this newly eligible population safely, equitably and as quickly as possible.”
