As we move into the month of May, we also enter the season of road construction here in the Badger State. A couple of examples here in the Northwoods are the construction of two roundabouts on Highway 8, one at Highway 17 and Boyce Drive, and the other at the intersection with Germond Road.  Like them or not, they generally help the flow of traffic; it just takes some getting used to for the majority of us drivers, myself included. While you encounter road construction in your spring and summer travels, here are some safety tips:   Always stay alert and minimize distractions,  keep your eyes on the road and avoid distractions such as texting and eating, pay close attention to workers, equipment, and changing traffic patterns.   Obey posted speed limits in construction zones.  Maintain safe following distances. Leave extra space between your vehicle and the one ahead!  Use detours when available and merge into open lanes early when approaching lane closures.  And always plan ahead!  Check your route before driving and allow extra travel time to avoid rushing through construction zones!  Road construction is necessary to keep our roadways safe and up to date. By practicing patience and perseverance, we can reach our destinations safely!   – Larry
