97.3 Hodag Country

Back in July, I attended a family reunion on my father’s side, held every other year, something I’ve been taking part in since I was a youngster.  It’s always great to reconnect with my cousins and swap stories about growing up.   I’ve always enjoyed looking at various pictures, newspaper clippings, and, of course, the family tree, learning about my great-grandparents and their trip from Great Britain, going through Ellis Island and eventually settling here in Wisconsin.  As with all family reunions, it’s sad to find out that some family members are no longer with us, losing a close cousin to cancer last year and my last living Uncle from Alaska, who passed away last fall at 93.  Even though the reunions seem to get smaller each time, it is always fun to swap stories, enjoy the potluck lunch, and the white elephant sale. This year, I netted two jars of salsa!    – Larry
